8.18. Vacuum amplifier of brakes
Check
Press a brake pedal several times at not working engine to create the identical pressure close to atmospheric in cavities of the vacuum amplifier. At the same time determine by the effort enclosed to a pedal whether there is no jamming of the case of the valve. Stop a brake pedal in the middle of its course and start the engine. At the serviceable vacuum amplifier the brake pedal after start of the engine has to leave forward. If the pedal does not leave forward, check fastening of a tip of a hose, a condition of fastening of a flange of a tip in the amplifier, a condition of a hose and the union. On cars with diesel engines check operability of the vacuum pump.
Removal
PERFORMANCE ORDER |
1. Remove the lower finishing of the dashboard. |
2. Working under the panel from the driver, disconnect a pedal pusher from the piston of the vacuum amplifier. |
3. Remove rubber consolidation from the top part of a partition of a motor compartment. |
4. Remove the main brake cylinder. |
5. Remove a plait of wires over the vacuum amplifier of brakes. |
6. Remove the hydraulic modulator of the ABS system and the control unit. |
7. Using the lever, take the unilateral valve from the vacuum amplifier of brakes. |
8. Unscrew nuts and remove the vacuum amplifier of brakes from a motor compartment up. |
|
Installation
PERFORMANCE ORDER |
1. Before installation of the vacuum amplifier of brakes measure distance from the end of a pusher of the vacuum amplifier to the interfaced surface of the main brake cylinder which has to make 149.5 mm. |
|
2. If adjustment is necessary, weaken a lock-nut (2) and, turning a pusher (1), establish the required distance. |
3. Establish the vacuum amplifier on a partition of a motor compartment, combining with a pedal pusher, and fix by nuts. |
4. Install the unilateral valve in the condensing ring of the vacuum amplifier of brakes. |
5. Install the hydraulic modulator of the ABS system and the control unit. |
6. Establish into place a plait of wires. |
7. Install the main brake cylinder. |
8. Establish rubber consolidation on the top part of a partition of a motor compartment. |
9. Connect a brake pedal to a pusher. |
10. Establish finishing of the lower part of the dashboard.
